Robert B. McCabe, 84, of Des Moines passed away February 23, 2015
Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 26th at Ankeny Memorial Gardens.
Bob was born August 26, 1930 to Lester and Gladys McCabe in Humeston, Iowa. He was raised in southern Iowa, then his family moved to Stanhope, IA, then to a farm south of Cambridge, IA.
Bob graduated from Huxley High School in the class of 1948. And he is a Veteran of the Korean War, having served in England.
He married Patricia Innes, and together they raised their three children.
Bob worked 25 years as Dairy Manager in Ankeny, for ISU. He then went into business for himself as an upholsterer. His business was named Quality Upholstery, in Des Moines, IA. He retired from the business in 2004.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting pheasants with his dog, bowling, visiting with people, and spending time with his family and friends- Jake Sawatsky and Oscar Malodana.
Bob is survived by his wife of 64 years, Patricia; 3 children, Steven Las Vegas NV, Scott Bourbon MO, and Beth Altoona IA; 4 grandchildren, Aaron Cory (Yesenia), Bradley Cory (Lauren), Leslie McCabe, Dave McCabe (Ambrosia); 3 great-grandchildren, Cade Cory, Caylee Cory, Camren McCabe.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Richard, and sister Vivian Louise Lewis.
Memorials may be made to the Iowa Veterans Hospital.
