Nellie Cogley, 77, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2021 in Story City, IA.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at Memorial Services of Iowa (4208 N. Ankeny Blvd.) in Ankeny, IA.
Nellie was born July 5, 1943 in Des Moines, IA to Ruben and Luella Rooker. Nellie had three siblings, Charlie, Bob, and Loretta. The children were very talented with musical instruments and would play and sing at their school functions.
Nellie graduated from East High in Des Moines. Shortly after school, Nellie married and had four children, Sam (Cheri), Ron, Jerry, and Loretta (Matt). She went on to work as a dietary manager at KCOM Hospital for 40 years. She retired in 2009. She enjoyed her many vacations and fishing trips with her family and loved her butterflies.
The joys of Nellie’s life were her children; her life-long companion, Edward Jennings; her grandchildren, Cory (Chauney), Ashleah, Rick (Paige), Samantha (Matt), Dalton (Jordan), Hannah, and John; and her great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Barrett, Aubrey, Owen, Hadley, Parker, Piper, Andrew, Elijah, Michael, Saphira, and Caden; and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend thanks to St. Croix Hospice for all the care they provided for Nellie.
