Beloved sister, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother.

Noriko Smith, 83, passed away December 28th, 2017 at Taylor House in Des Moines, Iowa.

Noriko was born in Sapporo, Japan in July 1934.

Preceded in death by her sister Atsuko, Tokyo, Japan.

Survived by her brother Naomitsu and sister Ryoko of Sapporo, Japan.

Beloved mother of her children Nancy (Martin) Vogel, Steven Nicholson, Larry Nicholson and David Scott Smith (Jennie Jones); further survived by grandchildren James (Preeti) Vogel, Eric Vogel, John Nicholson, Marc (Alexandria) Nicholson, Cathryn Nicholson, Christopher Aburas, Anthony Nicholson, Alexander Nicholson, Nikolas Nicholson, Ashley Berhow, Amber (Jason) Allen, Noriko Jones; great grandchildren Ariana Aburas, Olivia
Nicholson, Ileyah Islas, Nova Wessel, Saleen Wessel, and Ryleigh Duric.

Niki spent most of her career as a beloved waitress for Riccelli’s Restaurant in Des Moines, Iowa.

Being surrounded by those she loved was her fondest memories. She enjoyed cooking and serving food to her family, friends and customers.
She took great pleasure and joy in preparing

food from her childhood especially preparing Sukiyaki not just for the comfort of making the food but being able to pass on her recipes to the next generation.
She will be missed by many and will forever be loved.
