Walter and Norma were married June 30, 1954 in Pierre, South Dakota. They moved to Ankeny, IA in 1968 where they raised their five children. She worked hard to tame her wild bunch, but she loved spending time with her kids and grandkids. She was always there for every event that her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids had. She was ever-present in her family’s life and did her best to show her love through service and time.

Norma worked for Ankeny Schools for over 30 years and enjoyed her time helping others. She always had a strong work ethic and worked hard to service others, keep a clean house, and make sure everyone in her life was cared about. Norma was fierce, strong, compassionate, loving, and gentle. In her free time, she enjoyed, shopping, cleaning, cooking, traveling and spending time with her friends and family. She enjoyed a good joke, playing cards and loved to laugh. She always made sure she had baked goods ready for when guests stopped by for a visit and never went to an event empty handed. She was always one to help out someone in need and worked hard to make sure she was present in her family’s lives.

She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Walter Peterman; five children, Kathy (Doug) Rose, Lonnie (Bev) Peterman, Linnette (Bert) Green, Keith (Diane) Peterman, and Greg (Connie) Peterman; seven grandchildren, Christen, Sarah, Nicole, Tanner, James, Matt and Josh; two brothers, George (Judy) Wilson and Jack (Sandy) Wilson; and her many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her mother and father, Cornelius and Hattie Wilson; son, Douglas Walter Peterman; great-grandson, Liam John Knapp; and sister, Maxine Trabing.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in honor of Norma Peterman to Sunny View Care Center, 410 NW Ash Drive, Ankeny, IA 50023.
