Olive Lenora Weitzell, 89, of Tama, passed away on February 18, 2023, due to complications from pneumonia.

The family will greet visitors from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. on Friday, February 24, 2023, at Memorial Services of Iowa (4208 N. Ankeny Blvd., Ankeny, IA 50023). Funeral services for Olive will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 25, 2023, at the Reformed Baptist Church of Tama (701 State St., Tama, IA 52339) with Pastor Paul Rendall officiating. Burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery in Tama immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in Olive’s name to the Reformed Baptist Church in Tama.

Olive was born on October 6, 1933, in Grinnell, IA to Hubert and Lenora Shope. She attended high school in Grinnell and lived in the south Tama County area most of her life. Olive married Justin Weitzell of Tama, on June 22, 1950, in Atlanta, GA. They farmed near Tama. Throughout her career, Olive worked as a clerk for several businesses.

Olive enjoyed spending time with her family, her church family, and her friends. She taught Sunday School, participated in 4-H leadership, and various other community organizations for many years.

Olive is survived by her children: Pamela (John) Adams, Cedar Rapids; Cindy Weitzell, Union Grove, WI; Jennifer (Ron) Fix, Ankeny, IA; Jeff (Terrie) Weitzell, Toledo, IA; grandchildren: Lenora Adams, Jefferson City, MO; Justin (Allie) Adams, Marion, IA; Kevin (Kristy) Adams, Fort Madison, IA; Jonathan (Kari) Adams, Tallahassee FL; Melissa (Collin) Smith, South Carolina; Breanna Melville, in France; Joshua Weitzell, Toledo; Tiffany Roberts, Toledo; numerous great-grandchildren, as well as her brother James Shope, Toledo. She was preceded in death by her husband, Justin; their twins at birth; her sister, Billy Jean and brother-in-law, Charles Sumner, Grinnell; great-grandson, Carter Adams, at birth; and numerous, nephews and nieces.
