Pamela Kay Peterson, age 71, passed away at her home on March 27, 2023, after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. She was cared for and loved well by her family who were by her side.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 30, 2023, at Memorial Services of Iowa (4208 N. Ankeny Blvd). A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 31, 2023, at Ankeny Baptist Church (2842 SW 3rd St. Pl). She will be laid to rest at Ames Municipal Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. The funeral service will be live streamed at https://livestream.com/accounts/2557717/events/10818288

Pam was born on August 13, 1951, in Marshalltown, IA to George and Fern Johnson. She attended elementary school in Marshalltown prior to her family moving to rural Marshalltown where she began third grade in LeGrand, IA.  Pam graduated from LDF High School in 1969 and was united in marriage to Dorman Brush in 1970. To this union three daughters were born.

After highschool she attended nursing school and earned her LPN degree.  Throughout her career as a nurse, Pam worked at Grinnell Hospital, Grandview Heights Nursing Home, Iowa Veterans Home, and ChildServe.

On May 5, 2001, she married Richard “Rick” Peterson.  They enjoyed many things together such as attending church and their small group gatherings.  They loved to winter in Texas and garden in Iowa in the summers.

Pam’s faith was the center of her life. As a child she attended church in Marshalltown.  Later she was very active in the LeGrand Friends Church where she served on many missions, and Christian education committees, including helping to create the Wee Friends preschool program.  She is currently a member of Ankeny Baptist Church.

Pam will be most remembered by those who know her best for her love of babies and children, especially all those who were blessed to call her Grandma.  She also enjoyed decorating and hosting holiday parties complete with every small detail incuded, shopping, sewing, gardening, swimming, and baking.  Pam had a special place in her heart for animals, especially dogs.

Pam is survived by her husband, Rick Peterson of Ankeny; sister, Beverly Swaim (Larry) of Arizona; daughters, Marti Wojcik (Ted) of Ankeny, Kori Hockmuth (Ken) of Grinnell, and Kristi Flanagan of Grinnell; step-children, Andrew Peterson (Angie) of Milwaukee, Lily Peterson-Williby (Chris) of Ames, and Daniel Peterson of Boone; grandchildren, Preston Wojcik, Travis Wojcik, Elliana Wojcik; Mason Doty (Ashley), Kailee Doty (Kaleb Reid), Kyle Doty, Mallorie Doty, Mashayla Doty; Ieland Flanagan, Caden Flanagan, Sadi Flanagan, and Daxton Flanagan; step-grandchildren, Ashli Peterson, Kenzie Peterson, Ben Peterson, Morgan Williby, and Addy Williby; great-grandson, Owen Doty, along with twin great grandchildren on the way. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Fern; siblings, John Johnson (Joann) and Marcella Vogt (Kenny); and her step-son, Ben Peterson.
