Pat Brewbaker, 78 of Ankeny died Friday, February 9, 2018 at the Mill Pond Care Center from complications of a rare neurological disorder.
Visitation will be held 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 14th at Memorial Services of Iowa (4208 N Ankeny Blvd.) Funeral services will 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 15th, also at the Funeral Home.
Pat was a 1957 graduate of Ankeny High School and was a self-employed bookkeeper. Pat and her husband owned and operated Walnut Street Gallery for 17 years. Following the sale of that business, they joined forces with their daughter and family to establish White Oak Vineyards which they operated for 12 years.
She was a member of the Ankeny Presbyterian Church and was a long time organist at her church, and she was a past member of the Ankeny Library Board, the Board of Adjustment and the Planning and Zoning Commission.
Pat was a past-president of the Ankeny Chamber of Commerce and received the Chamber Outstanding Citizen Award. She also received the Rotarian of the Year award and was the past-president of the Ankeny Rotary Club. Pat was also a Past Worthy Matron of the Ankeny Order of Eastern Star. She was very active in the Uptown Association.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years , Max; a daughter Janet Harmeyer (Chris) of White Oak; four grandchildren, Kelee Harmeyer of Ankeny, Kasey Harmeyer (Laura) of Ankeny, Matthew Harmeyer (Katie) of Grand Rapids, MI and Meghan Harmeyer of Des Moines; and two great grandchildren, Lucy and Leo Harmeyer of Ankeny. Also surviving is a sister, Beverly Albaugh (Richard) of Huxley, and five nephews.
Pat was preceded in death by their son, Douglas, her brother Roger Scholes and her parents.
