Rebecca Lynn Clark-Boersma, 47, of Ankeny, Iowa, sadly left us on Friday, May 27, 2022, following her courageous battle with metastatic breast cancer.

A visitation will be held 5:00pm to 7:00pm, Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at St. Paul Lutheran church (1100 S.E. Sharon Dr., Ankeny, IA).  A funeral service will be held 11:00am, Thursday, June 2, 2022, also at the church. The service will be livestreamed on St. Paul Lutheran Church’s Youtube page: https://www.youtube.com/c/StPaulLutheranChurchAnkenyIA

Rebecca was born July 19, 1974, in Des Moines, Iowa to Jim and Margi Clark, joining her older sister Melissa. In first grade, her family moved to Mt. Ayr, Iowa, where she graduated from Mt. Ayr Community High School in 1992.  She had very special friends who she made many lasting memories with.

On February 17, 1994, Rebecca welcomed her first child, Clark David Boersma.  Kaitlynn Claire Boersma joined the family on December 9, 1996. Rebecca’s children were her world and she loved them very much.

Rebecca was a lifetime employee of Life Care Services in Des Moines, Iowa.  During her time with LCS she held various positions within the company.  Rebecca loved working at Life Care Services and often talked about her loving and supportive work family.

In September of 2018, Rebecca was diagnosed with breast cancer.  She fought hard and was cancer free.  In September 2020 she received the devastating news that the cancer had returned.  She continued to stay strong and hopeful as she once again began her treatments.  She participated in trials at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Dallas and Mayo Clinic in Rochester in hopes of helping other women in their fight with cancer.

Rebecca will always be remembered for her love for her children, her family and her many friends.

Those who cherish her memory are her children, Clark Boersma (Des Moines, IA) and Kaitlynn Boersma (Independence, MO); father, Jim Clark (Ankeny, IA); sister, Melissa (Jay) Hudecek (Ankeny, IA); niece, Aly (Nova) Kinkade (Boone, IA); and nephew, Jayson Hudecek (Ankeny, IA).

Rebecca was preceded in death by her mother Margi Clark, and her grandparents, Earl and Dona Monke and Paul and Lena Clark.

The family would like to thank all of the wonderful nurses at Mercy Hospice in Johnston for their wonderful care during Rebecca’s time there.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Can Do Cancer.  Can Do Cancer is a local program that supports women during their cancer treatments.
