I first met Dick when he came to manage the Hy-Vee Store and I was with Campbell Soup…Over the years we became very good friends and I loved calling on Dick as he was a man of Great Integrity and loved his Family… Dick also helped me when I ran for the Ankeny School Board…Pat my wife always spoke highly of Dick and loved Joyce Great Man and Friend… George Tracy George Tracy

I have fond memories of working for Dick at Hy-Vee many decades ago. He took a chance by hiring me as the first teenage girl to work at the Ankeny Hy-Vee when I was 16 and it was a positive experience for both of us. That original Hy-Vee was almost a family experience -- both for the staff and the patrons; we developed many friendships and looked forward to seeing the Ankeny citizens who shopped so regularly at Hy-Vee, which was in large part to Dick's management philosophy and the culture he promoted.
