Having lived a long and full life, Robert F. Miller, 92, passed away at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines on Friday, April 22, 2016.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday.
April 28, 2016 at All Saints Catholic Church (650 NE 52nd Ave) with burial to follow at Pine Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 – 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 27th at Ankeny Memorial Chapel (4208 N. Ankeny Blvd).

Bob was born June 9, 1923, in Clinton, Illinois, the son of Martin and Frances (Rosenmeyer) Miller. He was a graduate of Dowling High School and was a veteran of WWll having served with the U.S. Army in the invasion of Okinawa, Saipan, and the Gilbert Islands among others. In 1946, he married Joanna Lathrum. They were happily married for 65 years until her passing in 2012.

Bob was a faithful member of All Saints Catholic Church, gold card member of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Local #3, and also belonged to VFW Post 9662. In his earlier years he enjoyed square-dancing with Joanna, bowling, and going to the horse races. More recently, he enjoyed playing cards at the Senior Center and going to Prairie Meadows. Bob had the privilege of attending the Honor Flight to Washington DC with fellow veterans.

Those left to honor Bob’s memory are his son Charles (Karen) Miller, his daughter Shellee (David) Faux; grandchildren: Steve (Shawnna) Faux, Jenny (Matt) Mains, Alecia (Troy) Cory and Brooke Fry; and great-grandchildren: Ethan, Tyler, Hayley, Austin, Logan, Chloe, Dylan, Cooper, and Bennett.

Memorials may be directed to All Saints Catholic Church, or Taylor House Hospice.
