Robert Kayser

April 13, 1948 - April 10, 2023

Bob Kayser, 74, of Ankeny, IA, passed away peacefully Monday, April 10, 2023, at Methodist Hospital surrounded by his family.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 17, 2023, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church (517 SW Des Moines Street, Ankeny) with visitation from 9:30-11:00 a.m. Family and friends are invited to join in this celebration of Bob’s life.

Robert “Bob” Joseph Kayser was born in Mitchell, SD on April 13, 1948, to Joseph and Mabel (Kewley) Kayser. He attended elementary and high school in Emery, SD where he grew up on the farm. Bob married Linda Marie Olsen on May 2, 1969. To this union were born three children Dan, Joede and Mike. Bob and Linda spent time in Cedar Rapids, IA and Springfield, MO prior to settling in Ankeny, IA in 1976.

Bob always took up whatever his boys enjoyed and made it his passion. He was immensely proud of his children. Bob loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He delighted in watching their events and seeing them grow. Bob really loved spending time on the golf course. Bob gave his time and resources to many great causes and was quick to extend a helping hand to those in need. He had a distinguished career in the Trucking Industry where he represented the same company, International, for 50+ years.

He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Ankeny.

Grateful for sharing his life are his wife, Linda Kayser; son Dan (Mary) Kayser, Wildwood, MO; son Joede (Jenny) Kayser, Eldridge, IA; son Mike (Jane) Kayser, Ankeny, IA; seven grandchildren: Sydney (Gus), Justin, Logan, Abby, Maddy, Connor and Riley; two great grandchildren: Luka and Taytum; sibling Janie Golder and beloved in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings: Beverly Mayer, Marilyn Burnham, Donna Pederson, Eleanor Flynn, Carol Kruger, Jim Kayser, Greg Kayser and Sandy Kayser.
