Dear Virginia and family,
I am so sorry to learn of your losing Bob. He was such an ethical, brilliant, and precise man, not to mention a true gentleman. I know how much he enjoyed all of his family and what joy you all brought to him.

May you take comfort in knowing he is now pain-free and at peace.

We remember the days of Stan working with Bob at Norwest-Wells Fargo and the trips we went with the Bettles. Let Bob Rest in Peace and spend his first Christmas in Heaven with Christ.

One would not have to wait long after meeting Bob to know you have met a friend and a super Guy. Heaven has one of a kind. Grace and Bob Ireland

Bob and I began Kindergarten together at Lafayette School in Waterloo, Iowa and continue through high school at East High. We were always close friends. We remained so as college students at the University of Northern Iowa. I spent many days at his home as a child and often had sleepovers. We have been life time friends and attended his wedding to Virginia. I know he has been a caring and loving person and I am sad at the loss of his being, but I know that he will be fine in Heaven with our Lord. I offer my condolences to his wife and family, and on behalf of the Class of 1959 at East High School as well.

I experienced deep sorrow reading of Bob Bettle's death. We didn't keep in close contact since high school, but I would occasionally recall the fun times we had growing up. With Jim Trask, LeRoy Griffith, Steve Holbrook, Jim Chapin and Bob, I found supportive and intelligent friends. We were at times mischievous, but mostly studious and fun loving. Going to Bob's home on Lafayette street, where his mother at times left us some snacks and where I was always awed at how large his home was, gave me fond memories. Bob was a very talented young man and a real buddy when we went to school together. The world has lost a good person. My sincere condolences go out to his family and friends.

Bob and I (as Jill Thompson) were classmates from Kindergarten
at Lafayette School thru East High School graduating in the Class
of 1959 in Waterloo, IA. I used to look for him when he
visited Waukon, IA where I have lived for 50 years. He visited Virginia's
relatives.....maybe it was on Crazy Day Celebrations. He was a peach
of a guy. Jill R. Thompson Lampman

I was very sorry to hear about Bob's passing. I am sure the disease was extermely frustrating for Bob as his mind was always very sharp and quick. I am sure he was very proud to have such a fine family to carry on for him. RIP RWBfgq
