Roger Twedt was born to Noble and Jeanette (Lee) Twedt at Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames, Iowa November 20, 1935.  He was the oldest son of Noble and Jeanette following the birth of his older sister, Marilyn, and 3 younger brothers, Paul, Wayne and Steve.

He started 1st grade at White Oak School, then attended Prairie Flower Country School (between Colo and Collins) before moving to the Alleman area and graduating from Alleman High School in 1953.  He spent his freshman year at Ankeny High School before returning to Alleman starting his sophomore year when they re-opened the high school in 1950.

He attended ISU for two quarters before his uncle, Elmer Erickson, had health issues and needed to quit farming.  Roger quit college to farm his uncle’s ground.  He also worked at the Alleman Co-op off and on from 1953 to 1957.

Roger married his high school sweetheart, Mary Ellen Fausch, on Oct 3rd 1958 at the United Church of Christ in Alleman, Iowa.  They started their marriage on a farm near Sheldahl, Iowa before moving to the Fausch Family Farm in 1961 where they continued to live for the past 62 years.

Roger and Mary Ellen were blessed with 3 children, Kristin Kay (1960), Kerri Lynn (1961) and Craig Roger (1963).  Roger enjoyed fatherhood.  Two of his favorite memories were turning the kids loose in his pickup to learn to drive on the lane in the fields and watching them drive their 3-wheelers around the farm.

Roger and brother, Steve, have owned and operated Twedt Trucking together since 1990 hauling grain, seed and livestock.  At one time they had a fleet of four tractors and eight trailers.  They also farmed together for many years.  Roger also served in the Air National Guard for 8 years.

Roger’s faith was important to him.  He was a member of St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Ankeny, Iowa

Roger was preceded in death by parents, Noble and Jeanette (Lee) Twedt; in-laws, Albert and Laveeta (Smith) Fausch; sister and brother-in-law Marilyn and Don Swenson; brother, Paul John Twedt; brothers-in-law, Myrland Fausch (Caroline), Robert Fausch, Harvey Etzen; and nephew Steve Fausch.
