Our dearest Roy Luedtke, 59, of Polk City passed away January 9, 2016.
Roy had been an employee at Pioneer for the last 32 years. During his time at Pioneer he was able to explore the entire world and meet many friends along the way. He enjoyed his work and was able to accomplish many things during the past 32 years.
Roy was born in Waupaca WI and was raised in Zittau WI on a dairy farm with his family. He then went on to UW Platteville for his undergraduate studies and was apart of AGR fraternity. Shorty after he moved on to North Dakota State University where he worked on his masters studies and also where he met the love of his life Sue. The two married and then ventured to Ames IA to finish his academic studies and finish his Ph.D. His beloved son was born in 1986 and Roy was active in his son’s Boy Scouts work where the two went on to win the North Dakota state championship Pinewood Derby races. Roy also was mentor for his sons confirmation classwork and also coached his sons sporting activities.
Roy was the biggest Green Bay Packers fan the world has ever seen. There was never a time that he would miss a game weather it would be in person, on T.V., or traveling. He was able to share his love for the team by bringing family and friends to experience his passion first hand.
Roy is preceded in death by his mother LaMae, mother in-law Carol, and brother in-law Lance.
Roy is survived by his wife Sue, son Jason, father Roy, and father in-law George. He is also survived by his sisters Rosemarie (Dan), Rhonda, Robie Jo (Josh) ; brothers Rick (Terri), Russell (Judy) ; sisters in-law Deb (Ken), Kathi (Steve) ; and brother in-law Rick (Pat) ; nieces Andrea (Brandon), Avery, Evee, Karla (Rick), Sara (Joner), Sydney, Sammy, and Quinn ; and nephews Blaze, Christopher (Rachel), Dusty (Amber), Eli, Jake, Jarod (Emily), Jonah, Justin, Paul, Travis, Tyler, Wesley, Zack ; adopted brother and sister Carla and Jeff. Roy is also survived by many other many other friends, family, and co-workers. Please know how much he loved you all.
We all will sorely miss Roy. The family would like to thank everyone for their love and support.
