Sandra (Sorenson) Parmenter, age 88, passed away peacefully at her home in Elkhart, Iowa.

A celebration of life will be held at The Big Oak Barn (12806 NE 64th Street, Elkhart, IA) on March 10, 2024, from 2:00 – 3:00 PM.

She was born on June 8, 1935, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Roy and Kathryn Sorenson. Sandra graduated from Elkhart Consolidated School in 1953.  She married the love of her life, Paul Henry Parmenter on June 12, 1953.

Sandra spent her life as a homemaker, volunteering with Hospice Care, and caring for her son, Roy. She enjoyed reading, watching her bird feeders and seeing the flowers bloom around her home. She was active in the church and the rest of her free time was spent watching any kind of sporting event. Sandra loved hearing stories from her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Sandra is preceded in death by her husband, Henry Parmenter; her brother, John Sorenson; her sons, Dennis Parmenter and Mark Parmenter; her son-in-law, Jim Warrington; and her grandson, George Parmenter.

She is survived by her children, John Henry (Teresa) Parmenter, Kathy Warrington and Roy Parmenter; her daughter-in-law Kathy Parmenter; her grandchildren, Traci (Brian) Kirtley, Kelly (Tony) Sievers, Elizabeth (Taz) Wagner, Sandy Jane (Shannon) Morlang, John Parmenter Jr., Eric (Kelsey) Parmenter and Michelle (Matthew) Johnson and 14 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to The Ronald McDonald House in honor of her near daily trips to McDonalds.
