Sean D. Marvin, 50, died at his home in Ankeny, IA with his family by his side on Sunday, January 3, 2021 after a brave three-year fight with colon cancer.
Sean was born on September 23, 1970 in Osceola, IA to Sharon and Richard Marvin. He graduated from Clarke Community High School in 1989 and would later move on to graduate from Grand View University in 1996 with a degree in Criminal Justice. This led Sean to a 21-year career with the State of Iowa caring and working tirelessly for children and families involved with Juvenile Court Services.

Sean met the love of his life, Kellie Meyer, in 2008 and they were married on April 16, 2015 in a beautiful beachside ceremony in the Dominican Republic. Sean cherished the role of husband and being a father to Marissa. Over the years, and even in his last days, he watched and cheered for Marissa with obvious pride. Sean loved the Iowa Hawkeyes and Seattle Seahawks and spending time with his buddies on the golf course, and on the rarest of occasions could be seen doing his famous “thumbs up” dancing.

Sean is survived by his parents, Sharon and Rich; wife, Kellie and daughter, Marissa; and two faithful dogs, Benny and Jax; his brother, Eric Marvin; and sister Ashley Marvin.

The family would like to thank Dr. Page, Dr. Behrens, and Unity Point Hospice and their teams of nurses and assistants that cared so well for Sean in his journey.
It was Sean’s desire to have a celebration of his life in lieu of traditional services. He wanted his friends and family, who brought him so much joy, to gather and remember the happy times and treasure those memories. Details on this spring celebration will be sent at a later time.
