Sherry Rene Shotten, 65, passed away on August 21, 2022, at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines, Iowa, surrounded by loved ones.

She was born September 23, 1956, in Ottumwa, Iowa to Verna Houk (Davis) and Ronald Fuqua.

Sherry graduated from Ottumwa High School where she met Monty Shotten. They married and had three children, Bryce Sterling Shotten, Meranda Lee Shotten, and Brooke Ashley Shotten.

Sherry is survived by her mother, Verna Houk (Davis); stepmother, Darra Fuqua; brothers, Ronnie Fuqua and Doug Houk; children, Bryce Shotten, Meranda Shotten, and Brooke Shotten; bonus daughter, Lauren Shields; and eight grandchildren, Vincent Lloyd, Natalie Jackson, Dominic Morris, Alyse Shotten, Keira Slaughter, Katlynn Davis, Silas Shotten and Jade Gahman.

She is preceded in death by her father, Ronald Fuqua; brother, Shane Fuqua; and stepfather, James Houk.

Sherry enjoyed the outdoors, watching the Cowboys play, and making those around her laugh. She truly loved laughing, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family. She loved her children and grandchildren unconditionally.

The family will have a celebration of life for Sherry, held in Ottumwa, Iowa on September 24, 2022. Place and time to be determined.
