Marilyn and family, My deepest condolences to you. I was heartbroken to hear of Steven's passing. Steve and I coached North Polk 7th grade girl's basketball together. He was a phenomenal basketball coach and he helped me be gain confidence as a coach when I first started out. Not only was he a great coach, but he was the most passionate, thoughtful, and kind man. I was pregnant with my first child during one of our seasons coaching together and he built the cutest little red rocking chair for my baby. My children love sitting in it and I will cherish it forever. Sending my thoughts and prayers to you during this difficult time.

We spent so much time together in Emporia, that we all almost became like sisters. I wish I had met Steve, but I don’t think I ever did. He sounds like a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. I am so very sorry for your loss. I was so shocked and saddened by this showing up on FaceBook. Please know that I believe God has wrapped His arms around all of you to help you through this loss.
