Steven Harris, son of Harland “Cap” and Audrey (Pederson) Harris, was born June 16, 1953 in Fort Dodge Iowa. He grew up in Bode and graduated from Twin Rivers High School where he played football and still holds the pole vaulting record of 13.1 feet. After high school, Steve went on to serve our country with the United States Navy for 21 years as an Aviation Ordnanceman and retired in April of 1993 as Aviation Ordnanceman Senior Chief (E-8).

He loved to spend time with his family. He absolutely loved watching Iowa Hawkeye football games. He was a fabulous cook who also enjoyed woodworking and doing yardwork. He liked listening to country and motown music.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Pam (Hall) Harris of Ankeny; his daughters, Jennifer Harris of Des Moines, and Stephanie (Tracy) Harris of Ankeny; his beloved grandchildren, Tyana, Leila, Taven, and Chloe; and his siblings, Jack (Sue) Harris of Tampa Bay, Florida, and Peggy (Steve) Rorebeck of Urbandale, Iowa.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Brett Harris; his grandparents; and a host of aunts and uncles.
