Sylvia attended Saydel High School and Drake University Nursing program. Sylvia married Jerry Meyers and enjoyed 37 years of marriage until his passing in 2020. They were members of Our Lady’s Immaculate Heart Catholic Church in Ankeny.

Sylvia was a Registered Nurse in the Intensive Care Unit at Broadlawns Hospital for many years. She then became a Home Healthcare Administrator, opening new home healthcare offices all over Iowa. Sylvia served as member of the Board of Directors for the Broadlawns Medical Center Foundation Board for nine years, where she was a leading advocate and champion for the establishment of the Birthing Center. Sylvia enjoyed travel, gardening, her horses, camping, making Christmas cookies, Bloody Marys, and most of all, her friends and family. Huge holiday gatherings were her favorite! She spoiled her grandchildren and loved spending time with them.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Younker Rehabilitation Center at Unity Point Methodist, 8th Floor. Their care and kindness was much appreciated.
