Tom Diekema passed away on April 20 due to injuries sustained in a car accident.
Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00pm Friday, April 28 at Memorial Services of Iowa (4208 N. Ankeny Blvd). A Memorial service will be 10:30am Saturday April 29 at the Rockpower Church (3119 S.W. 30th St, Des Moines IA).
Tom was born September 4, 1949 in Mason City, IA to Alice and John Diekema. He married Patricia Mead on August 26, 1968. They had two sons T.J. and Johnny, four grandchildren, Sophia, Allison, Cameron, and Owen. Tom worked for UPS for 31 years and worked on many other projects. House construction and car restoration were on the top of his list. He loved spending time with his friends and family, especially drag racing with his sons and brother. The last few years of his life Tom and Patty loved going to church and its teachings. The new friends from church held a special place with them. He will be sorely missed for his compassion, work ethic, generosity, and his unique sense of humor.
He is survived by wife Patty; sons T.J. (Lara) and Johnny (Stephanie); four grandchildren, Sophia, Allison, Cameron, and Owen; sisters, Alice Hanley, Mary Meier.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents; brother, John Diekema; and mother and father in law Frank & Louise Mead.
