Timothy Lee Brunell, 65, of Ankeny, was born March 1, 1958, in St. Paul, MN and passed May 6, 2023.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at St. Paul Lutheran Church (1100 SE Sharon Dr., Ankeny) with visitation from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Burial of the urn will take place at Iowa Veterans Cemetery.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Esther Brunell. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Wendy; his sister, Brenda Berger; his children, Janet Wells and Timothy Brunell; and his nieces.

Tim graduated from Sioux City North High School in 1976 and joined the Army, serving in Texas, Hawaii and Korea. He served as a truck driver, something that he took after his father and uncle in doing. Tim could drive anything and was especially proud he could back into anywhere without hitting anything.

Tim was also a man of faith and attended St Paul Lutheran Church in Ankeny until he was unable to physically do so. He then enjoyed having people come to visit him at home. Tim also attended Immanuel Pathways (PACE) and happily served as a patient advocate and ambassador. People gave him energy and he loved caring for and about them.

Special thanks to Pastor Joel Newton, Pastor Michele Mead, and the doctors, nurses and the ministry staff of Mercy West Lakes ICU. Thanks will never be enough to the staff of Immanuel Pathways. Your love and support over the years have been a gift. We will never forget you.
