Wade Lane Wiese, 88, passed away April 22, 2023, at Mission Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Mission, Texas.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 25, 2023, at 1:30 p.m. at Memorial Services of Iowa (4208 N Ankeny Blvd). The family will be present one hour prior to the service.
Wade was born March 3, 1935, to Myril and Lucille (Lane) Wiese in Moscow, Iowa. Wade attended the Moscow and Conesville schools. He received a diploma from the National School of Meat Cutting in Toledo, Ohio. Wade received his high school diploma from The Lincoln Academy in Houston, Texas, in 2012, at the age of 77.
Wade enlisted into the Navy Reserves where he served for 8 years, and two years were active duty. He served on the USS Intrepid. He was a lifetime member of the VFW. Wade served as a Mason since 1958 and was also a Shriner.
Wade had a long career working for Hy-Vee Food Stores for 31 years. He began his career with Hy-Vee in Burlington, Iowa, before being hired to be the Meat Manager for the new Hy-Vee in Ankeny in 1967. He retired from Ankeny in 1993 at the age of 58. He went on to enjoy part-time work as a driver for Pony Express and later ran the clubhouse at the golf course at Sun Valley Lake near Ellston, Iowa, for several years.
He enjoyed his retirement years taking long rides on their pontoon around Sun Valley Lake, golfing, walking, and golf cart rides around their gated community in Texas. He loved attending any activity he could of his grandchildren.
Wade was fortunate to have married two loves of his life. Wade and Barbara Ann Wirt were married on August 25, 1957. Wade married Elaine Mildred Poole on November 5, 1998.
Wade was preceded in death by Barbara in October 1994 and Elaine in August 2018. Wade was a loving caretaker for both Barb and Elaine before their deaths. Wade was also preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Wesley, at age 2; his sister, Waunita Noble; and brother-in-law, Don Noble.
Wade is survived by his children, John Wiese, and daughter, Karen (Scott) Tibben; bonus children, Melissa Poole (Todd Schram), Nathan (Shelly) Poole, and Ben (Sherry) Poole; grandchildren, Landon Tibben, Kaylene Tibben, Logan (Jessica) Tibben, and Jacob Wiese; bonus grandchildren, Bohdi Schram, Milo Schram, and Jacob Poole; great grandchildren, Aria Tibben and Lincoln Tibben; brother, Myril (Jean) Wiese; sister, Joyce Wiese; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and bonus family and friends.
