William “Bill” Harold Hall, 79, passed away February 1, 2021 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. A private Memorial Service will be at 2 p.m., Friday, February 5th. The public is encouraged to attend the service virtually via live stream, https://vimeo.com/508132137
Bill was born October 16, 1941 in Farlin, Iowa to Raymond and Mary Hall. He grew up in Scranton, Iowa. Bill was united in marriage to Freda Cornelius on June 26, 1960. He worked on a farm in Scranton until they moved to Ankeny, Iowa in 1963. After moving to Ankeny, he started his career at John Deere, until he retired in 1998. During his time at John Deere, he held several prominent positions in UAW 450. Bill and Freda raised two children, Terri and Doug.
Bill enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, but above all he was proud to be a dad and grandpa. He spent countless hours at a cabin on the lake in Minnesota where he enjoyed fishing and camping. Bill was a member of the Goldwing Motorcycle Club which allowed him to take many trips with his friends. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking and welding. Another one of his passions was coaching baseball. In his later years he enjoyed playing cards and having coffee with friends. Bill was always there to lend a helping hand to others and most importantly he loved providing for his family.
Bill is survived by his wife, Freda; children, Terri (Dan) Smith, and Doug (Jenny) Hall; grandchildren, Skylyn Smith, Shane Smith, Sierra Smith-Laseter, and Jeremy Wamberg; great-grandchildren, Lillyana Smith, Isaac Wamberg, and Makenza Walker; brothers, Jerry (Virginia) Hall and Ernie (Bobbie) Hall; sister-in-law, Elaine Hall; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Ronnie and Larry.
