Bill and Barb were 2 of the very first people that I met when I moved to Ankeny 45 years ago. While our paths have not crossed frequently in the past years, it was always with fond memories when doing so. Bill was always quite friendly and easy to know. My condolences to his family. I am beyond sad that I am just hearing of Bill's passing. He was very dear to me. I will so miss him blazing in with a stack of Sherry's magazines, asking for a hug and a kiss and spending time sharing stories of his life, his adventures, his kids and grandkids, his health, and bringing me peaches from his trees in his backyard. He was one in a million and was loved by so many. I am so happy he was here before Christmas and that we had one last hug and kiss and one last conversation. I am sending many prayers to his beloved Barb, Sherry and the rest of his family. He was very special and will be greatly missed.

Bryan and I missed this. We live at corner of 5th and Hayes Drive. Bill would stop if he saw us outside! Some of his backyard plants are here among our side yard 1 story arbor which faces 5 th Street. Bill also sign Bryan up for the VFW as we are an Army family.
