Beryl Morgan Kerns, 93, passed away August 2, 2022 at her home with family by her side.
A funeral will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 8, 2022 at First Church of Christ (310 NW Ash Drive, Ankeny, IA). Family will greet friends an hour prior to the service. Burial will follow the funeral at Oralabor Cemetery.
Beryl graduated from the Hansell Consolidated Schools in 1946 where she and her sister were on the state championship girls basketball team. She is a member of the First Church of Christ in Ankeny and was a charter member in 1969 meeting uptown Ankeny in the I.O.O.F lodge. She trusted in Jesus for her salvation and enjoyed being with all her family, watching them grow in their faith and progress in life. She worked for the telephone companies in Hampton, Humboldt, and Ankeny, as well as Long Beach, California for 20 years where Mike and Phil were born. Beryl liked to go by “Bee” and loved making candy, especially peanut clusters and enjoyed delivering them around town to people she cared about. She rode with her husband on his motorcycle for several years, and traveled in their motorhome, visiting every state except the New England states. They wintered in Arizona, Texas, and Florida. “Bee and LJ” had a great and blessed life, She was such a Trooper this last year, an example for all and she will be missed by many.
Beryl is survived by two sons, Mike (Janyce) of Texas, and Phil (Patty) of Ankeny, IA; five grandchildren; Kimber, Kendal, Reanna, Sierra, Kelsey. four great-grandsons; Lucas, Austin, Weston, Kalvin, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Laurice “L.J.” on September 11, 2016; parents, Roy and Viola (Butler) Morgan of Hampton, IA; three brothers, Bernard (Irene) of Oregon, Berton (Betty) of Greene, IA and Bruce (infant) two sisters, Berneda (Robert) Masteller of Ventura, IA and Beulah (Max) Sheppard of Hampton, IA; sister-in-laws, Betty (Moe) Kerns and Jeanice (Larry) Kerns of Britt, IA
