Beverly A. Long

October 27, 1932 - April 22, 2022

Beverly A. Long, 89, of Polk City, entered into the presence of her Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, April 22, 2022, at Senior Suites of Urbandale.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 29, 2022, at Memorial Services of Iowa (4208 N. Ankeny Blvd.) A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, April 30, 2022, also at the funeral home. Burial will immediately follow the service at Lincoln Cemetery in Alleman.

Bev was born October 27, 1932, to Linus and Esther (Halverson) Jensen, in Seneca, Iowa.

She was married to Charles (Chuck) Long on June 7, 1953, at Grace Brethren Church in Des Moines.  She was a retired US Postal Service employee.

Bev is survived by her four children, Mark “Jed” (Teri) Long, Ric (Elaine) Long, Dianne (Scott) Elsasser and Sherri Lane.  She was blessed with 27 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren, and was a second Mom and Grandma to many more.  She is also survived by her brother, Dennis (Claire) Jensen, of St. Paul, MN.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son-in-law, Barry Lane; two grandchildren, Ezra and Mara Joy Long; and a sister-in-law, Elaine Long.

Donations in Bev’s honor may be made to New Horizons Adult Day Center in Ankeny, or the Polk County Jail Ministry.
