Dorothy Jean Schima

May 18, 1924 - April 24, 2015

Dorothy Jean Schima passed away quietly April 24, 2015, just short of her 91st birthday, at Sunny View Care Center in Ankeny, Iowa.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m., April 29, 2015 at Ankeny Memorial Chapel (4208 N Ankeny Blvd). A visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Ankeny Memorial Gardens.
Dorothy was born May 18, 1924 in Webster City, Iowa to Olive and Ernest. She was the oldest of 5 children. As a child, the family lived in Cedar Falls, Iowa where she graduated from the then Teachers College High School.
It was in Cedar Falls that she met and married Victor J. Schima on October 24, 1943. They later had a daughter, Margie.
Dorothy retired from the Cedar Falls High School food service program in 1987.Dorothy and Vic moved to Ankeny to be near Margie after she had settled here to teach in the Ankeny Community Schools.
In the last few years Dorothy resided at Sunny View Care Center in Ankeny – first with Vic, and then alone after he passed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her loving husband of 69 years, Vic.
She is survived by her daughter Margie, and her siblings, Don, Ray, Wilma, and Marlene, and numerous nieces and nephews.
