Herbert Hoover Petersen

Herbert H. Petersen, 88 of Ankeny passed away July 5, 2017.
A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 15, 2017 at Memorial Services of Iowa funeral home (4208 N. Ankeny Blvd). A visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service.
Herbert was born Jan. 30, 1929 in Des Moines. He served in the US Army during WWII. Upon his return from serving he met and married LuVerne Botsford on November 14, 1954. They made their home in Des Moines until 1968, when they moved to Ankeny. They raised 4 children, Jeff, Rod, Greg, and Kim.
He worked most of his career with the Iowa liquor warehouse. He retired in 1991.
He enjoyed, traveling, playing pool at the Senior Citizens Center, and playing penny slots at Prairie Meadows, and most of all spending time with his family.
Herbert is survived by 3 children, Jeff of Ankeny, Rod (Bev) of Bondurant, Kim of Ankeny; 2 grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Konnor; a brother Donnie and a sister Evelyn.
He is preceded in death by his wife LuVerne, a son, Greg, 2 brothers and 1 sister.
