Herbert Kain

Herbert Roy Kain, 93, passed away on March 31, 2023.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 6, 2023, at Memorial Services of Iowa (4208 N. Ankeny Blvd.) with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will take place at Rising Sun Cemetery in Pleasant Hill.

Herbert was born April 6, 1929, to Harley and Dora Kain. He was born on a farm in Swan, Iowa, where he and his five siblings were raised. Herbert married Roberta Foster in 1952, and they shared 45 wonderful years together until her passing in 1997.

He retired from Pittsburg Des Moines Steel in 1983 after 40 years of service. Herbert was a man who liked to keep busy and therefore worked part-time at Ankeny Car Wash following his retirement.

Herbert is survived by his children, Sharon (Gene) Williamson, James (Beth) Kain, and Jack Kain; seven grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. He is also survived by his brother, Ben (Jeaneen) Kain as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harley and Dora Kain; wife, Roberta Kain; three brothers; one sister, and one grandchild.

Herbert will be missed dearly by all who knew him.
