John Newton Javaux, 63, entered heaven at Taylor House in Des Moines, Iowa on February 16, 2018 after a brief battle with cancer.

John was born February 22, 1954 to Merle Newton and Freda Miriam (Monfort) Javaux in Caldwell, Idaho.

He attended Notus (Idaho) Schools throughout grade school and high school. After high school, John attended College of Idaho for one year before moving to Iowa in 1973 to attend Faith Baptist Bible College (FBBC) in Ankeny. John met his wife, Susan (Cunningham), while attending FBBC and they were married on July 17, 1976 in Russell, KS. He graduated from Faith in 1977, and from Iowa State University in 1986.

John worked at the NAPA warehouse, was a houseparent at Baptist Children’s Home in Indiana, provided security and maintenance at FBBC, taught at Grandview Park Baptist School in Des Moines, worked at IGF Insurance, and most recently worked at Gilcrest/Jewett Lumber Company in Altoona. Through the years, John worked part-time jobs for the Des Moines Register, Pizza Hut, and Hy-Vee Gas.

John was an active member of Ankeny Baptist Church, Ankeny, IA, serving in various roles: a deacon, singing in choir, missions committee member, a Cubbie leader, and many other ministries. He is known to family and friends for his love for the Lord, his big heart, infectious smile, and unconditional kindness. You could always count on him to provide a shoulder to cry on or a giant bear hug. John also had a love for sports, which he played throughout high school and college. His love for sports continued as he enjoyed coaching and supporting his children in their various athletic competition.

John is survived by his wife Susan; son, Mark (Crystal) who is active duty Navy in Guam, daughters, Nancy, Beth, and Karen, all of Ankeny; brothers Richard (Eileen), Caldwell, ID and Ronald (Carolyn), Middleton, ID, sisters-in-law, Joyce (Charles) Chiles, Topeka, KS and JoAnne Schmidtberger, Silver Lake, KS, brother-in-law, Gary (Charita) Cunningham, Topeka, KS and numerous nieces and nephews.
