David Phillip Diehm, 74, of Ankeny passed away at home January 6, 2015.
A visitation will be held 1:00 – 2:30 p.m., Saturday, January 10, 2015 at the Methodist Christian New Life Center (710 N.E. 36th St., Ankeny), with a memorial service to follow, at 2:30 p.m.
Dave was born March 13, 1940 in Colfax, Iowa to Fred and Ada Diehm. They moved to a farm near Newton where he grew up.
He enlisted in the Navy where he served for 4 ½ years. Following his service, he worked in heavy equipment and retired from Hallet Materials in 2004. During retirement, he and his wife, Barb spent winters in the south and enjoyed traveling many states around the country.
Dave was an avid fan of NASCAR and the Iowa Speedway. He also enjoyed riding his Harley, building engines, and tinkering in the garage.
Dave is survived by his wife Barbara, 3 daughters, Kelli (Greg) Becker, Andrea (Jim) Carr, and Erika (John) Myrick; 4 grandchildren, Joseph (Catie) Carr, Shelby (Josh) Cozad, Dakota (Amber) Myrick, and Jacob Becker; 4 great-grandchildren, Natalie Carr, Leah Cozad, Liam Myrick, and Anna Carr; 2 sisters, Lynn Auten and Sally (Mike) Farney, and many other loving family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, Mike and Steve.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Mercy Hospice.
