Mr. James Vidal Diaz

June 21, 1926 - June 18, 2015

James V. Diaz, 88, of Ankeny passed away early Thursday morning, June 18, 2015. His last moments were spent with his wife Ruby at his side.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 22, 2015 at Memorial Services of Iowa funeral home (4208 N. Ankeny Blvd). A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
James was born June 21, 1926 in Quito, Ecuador. He moved to the U.S. to study agronomy at Iowa State University, and continued his education at Drake University.
He met and married the love of his life, Ruby Speck, March 16, 1962. They raised their 3 children in Des Moines, before settling in Ankeny in 1974.
“Jimmy” worked for Triplett Office supply until his retirement.
His lifelong passion was playing golf. He enjoyed spending time with his dog Lucky, action movies, old John Wayne westerns, listening to Frank Sinatra, and especially enjoyed taking his family on vacations.
He will be greatly missed, and is survived by his wife Ruby, his 3 children, Brenda (Ned) Jorgensen, Jim (Patti) Diaz Jr., Pam (Scott) Lane, 3 grandchildren, Ashley (Mike) Bash, Andrew Jorgensen, and Maci Lane, and 1 great-grand daughter Brea Bash, 1 brother, 1 sister, and a close nephew Cesar Deleon.
