Thomas F. Trusty 83, passed away peacefully on Wednesday March 25, 2015, surrounded by his loving family.

A visitation will be held Monday, March 30, 2015, 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Ankeny Memorial Chapel (4208 N. Ankeny Blvd) with a prayer service to follow. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 31, 10:30 a.m., also at the chapel.

He was born April 9, 1931 in Fort Dodge, Iowa.
Thomas graduated from Corpus Christi Academy, Fort Dodge Iowa in 1949. He attended St. Johns University from 1949-1950 and Iowa State University 1954-1958.

Thomas was employed by Iowa State University’s data processing department. while attending school there. In 1959 he moved his family to Ankeny, Iowa to take a position with John Deere Des Moines Works. He was employed as the Supervisor of Systems and Programming from 1959-1968. In 1968 he took a new position with American Republic Insurance Company where he retired in 1993 as Senior Vice President of Information Systems.

Tom was a committed veteran starting his service at 17 years of age with the 133rd Air National Guard unit in Fort Dodge, Iowa.
He continued his service until he retired in 1973 as a Chief Master Sgt.

He met Mary McDonald in 7th grade at Corpus Christi Academy. They married November 15, 1950 and were happily married for 64 years. Tom and Mary were loving parents to their five children.

Tom is survived by his wife, Mary; children, Tom (Barb), Catherine King, Mark (Stephanie), Beth Rohwedder and Lisa (Bruce) Kinseth; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; 1 sister Luanne Huber, 2 brothers, Francis and Robert, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Micki, and infant sister Rosemary.

Tom’s family would like to extend thanks and praise to the staff at MillPond Retirement Community, Unity Point Hospice and HomeChoice caregivers for exceptional care and comfort provided to Tom during his illness.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Mosaic (a nonprofit organization for adults with disabilities) in loving acknowledgement of his grandson Christopher Dale Keast.
