Ronald James Halverson, 69, passed away Saturday, May 26, 2018 at Taylor House in Des Moines, IA. Ronald was born on February 25, 1949 in La Crosse, WI, to Dorf and Viette (Thompson) Halverson. He graduated from Elkader High School in 1967. He attended Wartburg college and Brown Institute for radio broadcasting.
He was married to Sandra Bergemann on October 28, 1972 in Waukon, IA. The couple had two daughters.
Ronald was primarily in sales both as an independent insurance salesman and worked for several years at Home Depot.
His joy was his children and grandchildren, family and friends. Ronald always had a smile and loved visiting with people. He had a knack for making people feel comfortable. Ron loved watching basketball and baseball, the especially the Atlanta Braves.
Ronald was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and attended the Watrous Terrace congregation in Des Moines, IA. There he served as a minister and helped many individuals learn from the Bible. He looked forward to the everlasting life that the Bible foretells. His faith was strong.
Survivors include his wife Sandy, his children Heidi Ruth (Anoop) Jalan, of West Des Moines, IA and Trista Joelle (Alexander) Cerling of Des Moines, IA ; two brothers Thomas (Ann) of New Hampton, IA, Vern (Cindy) of Ft. Myers, FL; two sisters Jan (Curt) Brandsmeier of Waukon, IA, and Mary (Leon) Nelson of Cedar Falls, IA; grandson Caleb Jalan, granddaughters Aliya and Tylie Cerling.
Ron was preceded in death by his brother Robert D. Halverson and his parents.
