Rosemary worked at United Fire and Casualty for 25 years. In her free time, she enjoyed playing bridge, traveling, trips to Farmersville, IL, visiting family, gardening at home and at All Saints Church in Cedar Rapids, and playing Bingo at the casino in Tama. She lived a full life and helped the less fortunate as often as she could. Friendships were very important to Rosemary. Whether she was looking for opportunities to help at All Saints Catholic Church by volunteering at the United Way on citizen panels, helping the care staff at Mill Pond Retirement or supporting Native American folks in the Meskwaki Tribe at Tama, she contributed in her own way. She would often say, “We are here to help others have hope and get to where they want to go”.
She is survived by her children, Claudia (Tom) Elchlepp Frost of St. Charles, IL, Thomas “Curt” (Shelli) Elchlepp of Dallas, TX, and Cari (Barry) Elchlepp Spear of Ankeny, IA; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold “Doc” Elchlepp; her parents, William and Carrie (Martin) Bedinghaus; four brothers; and two sisters.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Our Lady’s Immaculate Heart Catholic Church in Ankeny to benefit specialized ministries.
