Wade was welcomed into Heaven to be with the Lord on Feb 4, 2022. Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 15, 2022 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Ankeny Presbyterian Church, 317 SE Trilein Dr. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 16, 2022, also at the church. All are welcome to stay after the service for a luncheon served by the ladies of the church and to share their memories of our dear loved one.

Wade made his debut on Dec 31, 1964 to Gary and Julie Cloud in Manning, IA.  His family made the journey to their forever town, Ankeny, IA, in 1972. This is about the time Wade became a lifetime fan of the Minnesota Vikings. He enjoyed cheering them on with his dad and his brother, Lon. Should they happen to make it to the Big Game again someday, he will have front row seats watching from Heaven and cheering them on! “SKOL!”

Wade found a passion for running while in high school. He joined the track team and the cross-country team. Go ANKENY HAWKS! With his mother a teacher and his dad as the middle school guidance counselor in Ankeny, Wade got to know many of the faculty. He was always happy to run into them when out and about over the years. His family was important to so many locals in Ankeny! Whether it be through the church or the schools, the Cloud family was always there to help anyone in need.

Wade graduated from Ankeny Highschool in 1983. From 1984-1990 Wade was in the National Guard. He attended DMACC during this time.

After DMACC, Wade went to work for Highland Computer Forms. He loved food, especially pizza. So how does one get free pizza all the time? He figured out that secret quick! He went to work for Pizza Hut. While working full time at Highland, Wade was Ankeny’s local Pizza Delivery Guy. If you didn’t know him before this job, you certainly did now! With his extra income he was able to buy his first house! Wade also won a tv from Pizza Hut for making the 100,000 mile club for deliveries. When Highland closed their doors here, Wade went to work at Hy Vee.

In 2009, Wade started dating the love of his life, Dena Charles.  They married in 2011, they would start on their journey of the next 10 years together. The happiest 10 years of his life. His daughter Jessie was born was in 2013. Jessie kept him young at heart. He was a loving husband to Dena and a loving father to Jessie. He proudly showed pictures of his family to people and discussed their adventures they went on together. He had big plans for their future together and dreamed of the day they could go on a cruise and to lay on the beach in Hawaii. He will still get to go with them some day as their guardian angel.

Wade had a few hobbies we all know him well for. He LOVED trains ever since he was a young boy. He took the Amtrack across Canada. He collected trains and train tracks for many years. He built the most amazing train set in his basement. If you are ever stopped at a set of train tracks, think of Wade and how happy he would be!

Wade enjoyed watching Walker, Texas Ranger. He found a knack for being a “master” latch hooker. He spent whatever free time he had making several exquisite designs. He loved listening to the real classic rock and roll music–Styx was his ultimate favorite band. He also enjoyed following Ankeny Sports.

Wade was a man of few words. Texts were usually one-word questions or responses. Movies? Hickory Park? Pizza? He carried a flip phone long after the rest of the world moved onto smart phones. To get him to switch to a smart phone the phone company offered him a 65 inch smart tv. Deal! Score!

Wade was a long-time member of Ankeny Presbyterian Church. His family joined the congregation back when they moved to Ankeny in 1972–50 years!

Wade is survived by his wife, Dena; daughter, Jessie; brother, Lon Cloud; parents-in-law, Craig and Cyndy Charles; sister-in-law, Carrie Charles; brother-in-law, Chris (Royale) Charles and their children; aunt and uncle, Douglas and Leida; and uncle, Bob (Mary) Tymeson. Wade is preceded in death by his parents, Gary and Julie Cloud; and his uncle, Rod.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Wade’s memory may be made to help for Jessie’s education. The Cloud Family asks that everyone do an unexpected and unsolicited act of kindness for someone in Wade’s name.
