Anunziatina “Tina” Battani, age 98, of Ankeny, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2022, at Kavanagh House in Des Moines.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Friday, November 4, 2022, at Our Lady’s Immaculate Heart Catholic Church (510 E. 1st St., Ankeny) with a Rosary and prayer service following the visitation. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 5, 2022. Burial will be at Ankeny Memorial Gardens.

Tina was born on December 30, 1923, to Sestilio and Maria Gioffredi. Tina was raised and lived in Ankeny her entire life. She graduated from Ankeny High School in 1942. After high school, Tina worked at the Des Moines Ordnance Plant during WWII. In addition to being a homemaker, she retired after 38 years, from the Ankeny Public School System. Tina was always busy volunteering; she was a founding member of Our Lady’s Immaculate Heart Catholic Church and the Vittoria Lodge. In addition, she also was a member of the St. Vincent De Paul Society, and the Ankeny Area Historical Society. Tina loved to golf and bake.

Tina is survived by her children, Bob (Anne) Battani of Durango, CO, Jerry (Ginger) Battani of Ankeny, Linda (Steve) Walker of Des Moines, Dan (Pat) Battani of Ankeny, and Mary (Rick) Auerbach of Highlands Ranch, CO; eleven grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; baby, John David; parents; and siblings.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Ankeny Area Historical Society and Kavanagh House of Des Moines.
